Below is a list of all of my fic to date, organized in reverse-chronological order (most recent on top). All stories are SGA, John/Rodney as the main pairing (except for that one gen straggler, which only counts as gen because I haven't gotten around to writing the sequel where they totally make out.) Warnings forthcoming, as are links to the stories on the AO3.

As I mentioned in my last post, my friend M. gave me a list of 30 prompts, the original idea being that I'd do one a day for the month of November (er, 2009). I doubt I'll ever be able to do thirty straight days of finding the time to write, but I need to do something. Hence: 30 Days of Writing (Non-Consecutive).

Today's prompt is balloons )

Written work is: fic, SGA, G, team + minor John/Rodney, ~1000 words

So Remix reveals went up, back on Sunday, and now I can tell you that I was responsible for the Good Omens story True to Form (The Self Reflection Remix), which is a remix of [livejournal.com profile] daegaer's snippet Appearances can be Deceptive.* It was fun** to work in an entirely new fandom; I'd read Good Omens back in February and promptly inhaled a whole bunch of Crowley/Aziraphale fic,*** but hadn't really thought of writing anything since I've only ever done SGA.

ETA: Cut for length, vague spoilers for Good Omens and Master and Commander. What, I got rambly. )

So I wrote a little [livejournal.com profile] mcsmooch called Unlocked just yesterday, and thought that I should maybe post a link in my own journal, for track-keeping and informational purposes.

Then I remembered that [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa reveals happened back on the 1st, so that I should probably also let people know that I wrote Never Quite What You Expect for [livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa

And then I remembered that I never did post about my [livejournal.com profile] mcshep_match story The Ingenious Dr. Rodney McKay of Atlantis, which I wrote for Team Peace and which still needs some vital edits, dang.

And then I thought, "Wait, have I really only written three things since August?", and had to go look up the fact that, no, last [livejournal.com profile] mcsmooch time (October 09), I wrote No Contest, and also forgot to mention that.

So! This is not really a Fic Year in Review post, but it's a list of what I've done since August 2009, at least. I'm now quite convinced that I should a) create a masterlist of my fic, so that I don't lose track of what all I've written, and b) actually upload my stuff to my AO3 account and, in the process, do all the little edits I keep meaning to do, seriously.

If anyone has any advice on masterlists -- what you-as-a-writer have found helpful, what you-as-a-reader prefer, what you-as-a-librarian/archivist (ahem, [livejournal.com profile] winkingstar) would recommend -- please do let me know!

ETA: All the above-linked fic is John/Rodney, PG-ish rating at most, and replete with em-dashes. In some things, I am consistent!

Voting for the [livejournal.com profile] mcshep_match drabble challenge is up! You can check out the 468 drabbles here and then vote for the team that made the best showing. Team members can't vote, but we can campaign, so: vote Team Peace!

My seven drabbles are here (with HTML provided by the amazing [livejournal.com profile] altyronsmaker, who coded all 251 Team Peace drabbles):

Peace is worth fighting for
Peacably to Assemble
Peace!
Promise of Peace (semi-sequel to two drabbles by [livejournal.com profile] lavvyan)
And by that I mean Peace
Time enough for Peace
Peacetime

I'm back from my unplanned three-week-ish hiatus from lj! Things have been getting busy in this, my last semester of law school (four weeks until graduation, gah!), and combining the standard paper-writing, class-attending, and sort-of-reading for class with family coming to visit, bar loan applications, and, oh yeah, directing a play, I've been remiss in keeping up on my reading-and-commenting here.

For instance, it's been [livejournal.com profile] mcsmooch time for two weeks now, and I've barely read any of them! This makes for a fabulous store of kisses that I'll start going through now, and I'm just going to get over my "Oh, but it's weird to comment after the first few days a story's been up," nonsense and try to comment on what I do get to read. (Consider this a heads-up re: awkwardly late comments from me on your posts from the past few weeks, too, since I'm also planning on catching up on the ol' flist.)

I did manage to scratch out a(n admittedly kind of weird) smooch myself: One Hundred Percent (Plus), and posted it un-beta'd, since I thought the deadline was today and have only just noticed the extension. So, if you spot anything wonky or have concrit, please do let me know! (And now that there's an extension, I might procrastinate from the paper-writing I'm supposed to be doing by writing another smoochlet that focuses more on kissing, less on sandwiches.)

Oh, and please link me to cool/interesting/funny/ficcish/important posts that have appeared the past few weeks, if you think of it!

Summary: 'There's not a cloud in the sky, Colonel,' Rodney said, and John had just enough time to register Teyla's look of concern, Ronon's frown, and Rodney's suddenly colorless eyes before everything went black. )

Title: The Bad Day Reflex
Pairing: John/Rodney
Rating: PG/PG-13
Word count: ~1,600
Summary: Rodney uses John as a pillow. John's okay with that.
A/N: Total fluff, written to try my hand at Rodney's p.o.v. again and to distract myself from academia (and because the radio in the coffee shop just had to play Ring of Fire on Valentine's Day). Beta thanks to [livejournal.com profile] winkingstar.

Well, where would you go if you'd had a bad day? )

propinquitine: (John and Rodney: Home)
Oh, how I love [livejournal.com profile] mcsmooch time! It never fails to get me into a writing mood. (Now if I could only find the law school paper equivalent). This round's offering (posted over in the comm):

Title: Mission Planning
Rating: PG-13 (I guess?)
Word Count: ~ 1325
Spoilers: minor for 4x04 Doppelganger
A/N: Set post-canon (late season 6, by my reckoning); beta by my lj-less sometimes-roommate M.

John hadn't really meant to schedule it.

Title: Lost Horizon

A/N: Huge thanks to [livejournal.com profile] beadattitude for the speedy and thorough beta, and for helping me figure out what this story was actually about. And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] highonstargate for partnering with me on the [livejournal.com profile] artword challenge, and creating such a beautiful cover.
Summary: There's so much wonder in the world, but you have to be able to see it.

A/N: This is for [livejournal.com profile] newkidfan, to thank her for her amazing work running the [livejournal.com profile] artword Round Robin challenge. I've posted a kiss!fic over on [livejournal.com profile] mcsmooch. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kimberlyfdr and M., my LJ-less sometimes-roommate, for the beta work. All remaining tense, pronoun, and sentence structure issues are my own.

Title: Quotidienne
Rating: PG
Pairing: John/Rodney
Word Count: 812

And the other three stories I worked on for [livejournal.com profile] artword are up!

There's Lost In Communication, where [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve left off her section with the incredibly fun idea of John thinking Lorne thinks Rodney's a spy. (For a time, I was plotting out a very farcical exploration of who thinks what when, and why, with the big reveal at the end being that it's actually Chuck who's the spy and disappears from the gateroom in a cloud of smoke, ninja-like. But that would've been several thousand words long, not right for this challenge, and [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone's done it already.) The title's very apt, and the resulting artwork is wonderful.

Then there's Everything John Never Wanted To Know About the Wraith, and Rodney Should Have Been Afraid to Ask. My first thought was to go in a cracky direction, with John reluctant to go back to the planet because the naked Wraith remind him of his two greatest fears: bugs and clowns (all that pasty white skin!). But I got distracted by Rodney undressing John, and instead [livejournal.com profile] hyperfocused finished the story up in a very sincere and touching way, which is reflected in the art.

Discoveries is the story I started. I began with the idea that John and Rodney get trapped in a VR room that keeps cycling through different scenarios that the city's pulled from the multimedia that the expedition members have uploaded to the central servers -- mostly, I wanted someone to have saved one of those Olde Timey Photos on their computers, so that at some point in the story we'd see Teyla in one of those floofy dresses, sitting in a bathtub with a Tommy gun, wearing a really wide-brimmed hat. Also, there could be a Buffy fusion, in which John is the Slayer. (I want to hear him make comments about his kicky boots.) But I got up to the first phowm and realized that it was probably more fun for the next person to write if I didn't specify what the room did. I wouldn't have thought of the incredible-shrinking-room aspect, or the garden-of-self-discovery angle, and those are really neat, so I'm glad I left it where I did. The art process for this one is really cool -- you can see the shifting tone of the story in what the artists create, and the end result would be a really gorgeous banner/journal header. :-)

And we've still got a few days of posting to go! [livejournal.com profile] newkidfan did a phenomenal job organizing all of this, and I'll be sad not to have a new story to work on every week!

Posting for the [livejournal.com profile] artword Round Robin challenge started yesterday! It looks like there will be two stories posted a day for the next week or so. Each author got to write a portion of four different fics, and each round of writing was followed by a round of art-making by some very talented artists. You can check out all of the fic from this challenge here.

I wrote the conclusion to story 01 - Only Can Give (What You Have) (from when they sit on the mattress to the end).

For my own organizational purposes, post-dating this entry from the future (Dear August '08 Self: It's okay, Obama gets elected and you get that fellowship. Love, February '09 Self) because I just realized I never posted a link here to my Shrine post-(post-)ep/future!fic for the August '08 [livejournal.com profile] mcsmooch fest. So:

Fic: Acceptable Outcome (spoilers for 5x06 - The Shrine)
Variation on what I'm sure will become a theme, spoilers for 5x06 - The Shrine, PG-13, 1179 words.

So I was doing a little vanity-googling of my lj name (yes, I'm lame, I embrace it), and ran across this page:
Small Grocery: NUTRITION DRINKS: POWERBAR shakes
. (Link coded with "nofollow", that handy bit of HTML I've been learning about from recent fannish goings-on, so it should be okay to click.) It's a copy of my 4x20 missing scene Foreseeable, but it appears to have been translated from English to Russian and back again, and is now being used to advertise for NUTRITION DRINKS (specifically, POWERBAR shakes). Um, what?

From the story summary: Will-power be opposite. Shall be enduring been? God, he hates chance excursions. )

I guess the moral of the story is this: Vanity-googling your lj username might not be a bad idea. Forewarned is forearmed! And you can file me under NUTRITION DRINKS.
propinquitine: John, looking up while in a cell, from the lovely blue-lit episode Aurora. (Home Team)
As I'm sure you've all seen already, the winners for McShep Match were announced, and the Home Team was victorious! (Well, by 12/100ths of a point, so it's more like "the Home Team squeaked by on a statistically insignificant margin!" But still: !!!)

I contributed the Home Team story For Future Reference for the "chapter and verse" prompt. It's a fairly fluffy piece -- I caused myself much consternation trying to figure out what kind of epic, angsty story I should write, and then I thought, "Wait, why did you pick this prompt in the first place? Oh, right: boys making out in libraries."

Huge thanks to [livejournal.com profile] winkingstar for betaing this 10 hours before the deadline. I promise that no library materials were harmed in the making of this story.

Title: Modern Myth
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: Passing reference to "Tao of Rodney".
Length: 2,684 words
Notes: I am in awe of people who can write short smooches. This was the briefest (of 5!) kisses that I attempted.

ETA: Now available in podfic form, as read by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] winkingstar!

Well, that episode certainly burrowed into my brain, even more than they usually do. This is an attempt to pull out the mindworms.

Author: [livejournal.com profile] propinquitine
Characters/Pairing: John, Keller, Rodney; McKay/Sheppard (pre-slash)
Rating: PG

Warning: Spoilers for 4.20 - The Last Man
Genre: Missing scene
Summary:  Hearing about it had been bad enough; he doesn't know that he'd want to see it, now, even if it is different. Will be different. Shall have been? God, he hates time travel.
