De Re Coquinaria Pegasi

Got a hankerin' for some Ruus wine or lemon (death) bars? Curious to see what Earth-equivalent ingredients tava bean and tuttleroot soup might include? Dying to know how to make a proper Salisbury steak?

Then check out De Re Coquinaria Pegasi, the extensive Pegasus galaxy/Atlantis Expedition cookbook, assembled by [livejournal.com profile] winkingstar and contributions from her minions. The cookbook contains dozens of recipes (including drinks, sides & salads, main dishes, and desserts), as well as photos, captions, and recipe-inspired fic (all gen or Teyla/Kanaan, which there needs to be more of in the world, IMO).

The above link takes you to the noticeboard post, which has links to the wiki-based online version as well as the download links for the PDF. I highly recommend looking through the PDF, which has 40+ pages of photos with captions that aren't on the wiki.

So check it out, try out some recipes, and if you've got your own ideas to contribute, we'd love to see them!

Salisbury steak ftw! :D

How else will people know how to microwave a TV dinner, without a detailed recipe? We are providing a valuable service! (Also, a lot of the real recipes look very very tempting -- I may have to try that apple pie now that I've spent hours looking at pictures of it. :D)

Hehheee :) It really is quite tasty! It does have a tendency to rather fall apart on me, but that's quite possibly due to the fact that I'm never willing to wait for it to cool fully. I suppose I could test this by waiting sometime, but c.f. previous comment about being unwilling :) (I do know that it is always set fully by the time I pull it out of the refrigerator). And now I'm wondering if I remembered to include this on the writeup and gaaaah. Silly Fish! It's done and published! No more spazzing! oooh, unless it's the Spazzy Cookies, those are really good!*

Oh, but fall-apart pies are wonderful! And I love recipes that are kind of different after they've been refrigerated (fall-apart v. solid pie, etc.) -- it's like getting 2 dishes for the effort of one!

Wheee!

Also, evidently I haven't turned off my editor hat yet, because I feel compelled to point out that you wrote 'some' as 'come' in the final sentence.

(and here I thought I'd be over the crazed part after we went live... )

Hee, thanks for catching that! And, um, in the vein of not being able to let the editing go, I noticed a typo in the PDF, in my bio -- it's supposed to be "chocolate stump", not "chocolate stum". But it's not important! No one will read that bit, it's just a silly little thing I noticed because I'm vain. :-)

Drat. I'm guessing that was a casualty of converting the double quotes into LaTeX-friendly two single quotes. And please do tell me of any typos! I'm compiling a list in case of, well, honestly, I'm not sure really what it's in case of. But still, compiling! Ooooh, I suppose the FPO could always issue an Errata sheet?

I wish I had an actual crazed editrix hat (rather like Jo in Little Women, no?) so I could hang it on a hat stand and point at it whenever I started getting these ideas: See, Fish? You hung up the crazed editrix hat! So don't do that! You've still got lots of lovely hats-- you've got the non-crazed editing hat, the silly fish hat, the pretending hat (it has sparkles), the making-messes-in-the-kitchen-(aka cooking) hat and lots others. See? *No being crazed editor any more!*

It might be the time for my dried frog pills *whistles innocently*

Hee! I hope the recovery is going smoothly, though from my experience, the Crazed Editrix Hat kind of digs in claws and refuses to be dislodged. It does shove over to make room for the other hats, though, which is kind of it.

Well, at least it'll share? (And I found I misspelled 'dessert' in one of the Process Picture captions-- I dropped an ess -- and I lied on one of the apple pie captions-- I said nutmeg rather than cinnamon and so I'm ever so appalled at myself. Maybe I will issue a second edition with mistakes corrected... *shakes head at self*
