So I don't usually do memes, but in the past 12 hours I've seen three that I really liked, and I needed something to do to keep me awake in Admin. Thus: Three Memes!

#1 - The Photo Mosaic Meme

The Rules:

1. Answer each of the questions below using the Flickr Search engine.

2. Choose a photo from the first three pages.

3. Copy the URL of your favorite photo into this site: http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/mosaic.php
4. Share!

Source photos: 1. Violent Storm "Emma", for name: Emma
2. Mozarella, for favorite food: mozarella cheese
3. Street Lamp, DE, for hometown: [hometown], DE
4. Green Womble House, for favorite color: green
5. ComicCon2007_SGA_post-44, for celebrity crush: Joe Flanigan [this was the hardest one -- too many gorgeous shots of JFlan to choose from!]
6.
Storm in the coffee cup..., for favorite drink: coffee
7. The Great Milky Way Flood, for dream vacation: Milky Way [or somewhere on Earth that I can see it]
8. Chocolate Silk Pie, for favorite dessert: chocolate silk pie
9. The Constitution in Peril, for dream job: defender of First Amendment rights
10. Warmth, for What I love most in the world: warmth
11. Talkative Tortoise, for one word that describes me: talkative
12. Alone for username: propinquity [since propinquitine, made-up word that it is, yielded no hits]

#2 - The "Be Pete Wentz" Poetry Meme

Now, I have to admit that I'm not really that familiar with bandom, and probably couldn't pick Wentz out of a lineup of Fallout Boys (though, I do know that he just named his child with Ashlee Simpson "Mowgli" something-or-other -- thanks, Internet), but this meme struck me as sufficiently Dadaist to make even Tristan Tzara proud. Plus, I got to try to use punctuation to develop meaning, which is always a treat.

The Rules:
01. Put your music player on shuffle
02. The first lines of twenty songs = a poem; the first line of the twenty-first song is the title

I Set Out on a Narrow Way

Out in the harbor,
Measure me in metered lines;
Looking out of my window:
Who's the lovely daddy with the beautiful eyes?

You're not thirsty.
I've got some big news:
Still my heart,
Colonel Perón;
My man's up all night.

I believe in harmony,
I had a dream,
I can feel it coming in the air tonight:
You were trying to kill me.
I guess now's the time.

Over and over and over again,
On a rooftop in Brooklyn,
She will kiss until her lips bleed,
For the longest time.

Well, I know --
Everybody knows about Hollywood skunks --
There's sadness by your side.

#3 - The Question-and-Random-Answer Meme

Okay, I forgot where I saw this one, but it's your basic "answer this list of questions by putting iTunes on shuffle and using the song titles as your response" meme. Bonus: trying to rationalize the answers!

IF SOMEONE SAYS "IS THIS OKAY?" YOU SAY:
Gee, Officer Krupke -- West Side Story
That's it, rebel against the establishment! While using puns!

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF?
Lady Godiva and Me -- Grant Lee Buffalo
Our hobbies include riding naked through the town, getting oppressive taxation schemes repealed, and brushing our hair. Good times.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE IN A GUY/GIRL?
I Am the Very Model of a Cartoon Individual -- Animaniacs
I guess this is the appropriate time to disclose that the first crush I ever had was on Buster Bunny, followed shortly thereafter by Leonardo the Ninja Turtle.

HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY?
Hide and Seek -- Imogen Heap
Hiding from professors to whom I owe paper outlines, seeking more sources for said paper outlines?

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE'S PURPOSE?
Fossils -- Peter Shickele
This answer clearly comes from the archaeologist!AU of my life. It was a pretty close call, actually.

WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK OF YOU?
Overkill -- Colin Hay
Of pleasant things, that is. They're very proud and supportive. Though perhaps less that thrilled when I insist on doing a breakfast-table social-construction-of-gender analysis on the Salvation Army Christmas stockings my mom was assembling. Consciousness-raising is for dinnertime!

WHAT DO YOU OFTEN THINK ABOUT?
Accidentally in Love -- Counting Crows
Yes, yes, I'm a shipper at heart, and my favorite ships are always the "strange bedfellows become sexy bedfellows" ones, a la Mulder & Scully, John & Rodney, House & Wilson, etc.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PERSON YOU LIKE?
American Patrol -- Glenn Miller
There's no one at the moment, so I guess I'm looking for . . . selfless service and sacrifice for the benefit of national ideals of liberty, autonomy, and free expression? Or I have a previously undiscovered military kink?

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE STORY?
Ways & Means -- Snow Patrol
Allocation of funds/resources! Boring but necessary! Not something I'd trust to others!

WHAT DO YOU THINK WHEN YOU SEE THE PERSON YOU LIKE?
California -- Phantom Planet
Is that where he's hiding?

WHAT WILL YOU DANCE TO AT YOUR WEDDING?
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band -- Beatles
So, so close to "When I'm 64", which is the actual plan.

WHAT WILL THEY PLAY AT YOUR FUNERAL?
I'm Too Sexy -- Right Said Fred
I'm too sexy for respiration, too sexy for circulation, too sexy to breathe.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR?
Inside and Out -- Feist
Afraid of everything! Or, of having my inner self be shown to the world at large, and then roundly mocked. Or, of losing all of my skin.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SECRET?
Saving Words for Making Sense -- The Six Parts Seven
I save all of my very best ideas for The Novel that I'll eventually write, which will propel me to John Scalzi-like fame.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR FRIENDS?
Wish You Were Here -- Pink Floyd
Aw! So true!

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO NAME THIS POST?
Something Bad -- Idina Menzel & William Youmans
Thank you, musicals, for making my answers just a little bit weirder.

Okay, who's next?

The photo mosaic meme is my favourite meme ever! It's so interesting to see what people pick for themselves and there's so many cool photos! I am quite keen on the Green Womble House in yours. That is such a great house-name. (I am a fan of house-names. When I get my own house someday, it will have a name!) The talkative tortoise is also interesting.

dream vacation: Milky Way [or somewhere on Earth that I can see it]

Oh, I've seen it! From Cambria, California. It's not as spectacular as that photo (will totally have to seek out that patch of Oregon someday!), but it's still really cool to be able to see the smudge at all. The night sky there (when it's clear, which, unfortunately, is not often enough, but usually at least one of the nights when I'm there will be clear) gives me such spasms of starry glee. I could just stare up for hours (except, unfortunately, it's also rather cold there). And, bonus, Cambria has a nice selection of weird/kitschy shops and, more importantly, antique stores with lots of really weird old books. So, you know, stars + odd books = pretty much one of my favourite places. :D

Also, I am sure your poem is very Deep and Full Of Hidden Meanings that I will have to ponder. ;)

(Aaaand I missed this comment, somehow!)

I've always wanted to live in a named house. The closest I've ever come is my grandfather's farm, which, according to the sign that someone hung off the mailbox at some point, was called "Walnut Hill Farm". But we always just called it "Poppop's".

There's a state park somewhere in northern PA that is apparently a very good place to go see actual stars, including the Milky Way. I think that was the only East Coast place on National Geographic's list of places light pollution hasn't ruined everything. But Cambria sounds neat! Especially since you get to be there, anyway, and the stars are an awesome bonus.

I'm pretty sure my favorite part of the poem is when Colonel Perón gets invoked. Having a lot of show tunes makes for extra-fun meme answers. :-)
